Tylenol/Motrin Dosing Charts for Infants and Children
When referencing the dosage charts for Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin (ibuprofen) below, please remember these safety guidelines:
- Please call our office right away if your newborn (under 3 months) develops a fever. Do not give medicine unless instructed by your doctor.
- Never give more medicine than is appropriate for your child’s weight.
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be given every 4-6 hours, with no more than 5 doses in a 24-hour period.
- Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) should not be used in infants under 6 months of age; in older infants and children, it may be given every 6-8 hours, with no more than 4 doses in a 24-hour period.
